First Fridays at B: February Announcements

We kicked off our fifth season of First Fridays with a full house and a conversation about maintaining a healthy digestive system. Our program featured insight from local experts Jordan Thornberg (ProBiotein), Randi Kay Olsen Heinold (Naturally Randi Kay) and Fadel Nammour (Dakota Gastroenterology Clinic).

Simone Wai, Red River Market
The Red River Market is hosting a Winter Market on Saturday, Feb. 8 at the Moorhead Center Mall. This indoor event will feature produce, pantry items, household goods, baked goods, art, hot food, and beverages. Shop with your favorite Red River Market vendors while enjoying live music and more.

Jack Wood, Growing Together Community Gardens
The Tomato Seed Saving Club"s main mission is educating all community members particularly in the Cass and Clay area about Tomatoes. Seed Starting, Planting, Pruning, Preserving, Variety Selection, Disease Control, and Seed Saving. The main focuses will be Youth and Elderly.

Mary Larson - Grateful Community Gardens / Moorhead Farmers Market
Want to get involved? The Moorhead Farmers Market is looking to hire a coordinator for the Grateful Community Gardens and SNAP.

Alyssa Knecht, Farm in the Dell
Farm in the Dell of the Red River Valley provides employment for individuals with disabilities. They teach employees new life skills in a beautiful farm and garden setting while providing them with employment opportunities that give them a sense of accomplishment and belonging.

Anna Andersson, FARRMS
FARRMS is recruiting interns interested in sustainable agriculture for the 2020 growing season. Get hands on experience on a farm, engage in readings and discussions, and attend farm tours throughout the summer. Stipends are available!

Leola Daul - Heart-n-Soul Community Cafe
Heart-n-Soul Community Cafe is a pop-up community cafe with a pay-what-you-can. Upcoming events are February 11 at First Presbyterian Church, February 16 at Crossroads Senior Living Community, and February 23 at Square One.

Jenna Hest or Becky Feltman - North Dakota Academy of Nutrition & Dietetics Symposium
The North Dakota Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics is holding its Spring Symposium "Nourishing Health" on March 11-12 at the Holiday Inn in Fargo. This two day symposium will provide health practitioners, community allies and food service professionals the latest information in nutrition. This symposium is open to Registered Dietitians and other Allied Health and Food-service professionals. Participants can register for one or both days.

Taylor Syvertson, Great Plains Food Bank
The Great Plains Food Bank's mission is to end hunger in North Dakota and western Minnesota through community partnerships. They are the largest hunger-relief organization in North Dakota and serve as its only food bank. Want to get involved? They are hiring!

Kim Lipetzky - Cass Clay Food Commission
