First Fridays at B: June Announcements

In honor of National Pollinator Month, our final First Fridays of season three focused on the importance of pollinators and featured three local experts: Bryan Bishop (Concordia College), Peter Schultz (Longspur Prairie Fund) and Netha Cloether (Plains Art Museum / Plains Buzz Lab).

Cady Middlestadt - Longspur Prairie Foundation
The Longspur Prairie Fund Bee Hunt is one part research project and one part family prairie field trip! Join Longspur Prairie and bee scholar Dr. D. Bryan Bishop (Associate Professor, Concordia College) for their fifth annual bee hunt on June 22.

Janice Tweedt - GleaND
GleaND, North Dakota’s first gleaning network, will be hosting a Volunteer Information Session on June 19 to share more about summer volunteer opportunities.

Jen Walla - Prairie Roots Community Fund
Prairie Roots Food Co-op has Double SNAP, with $10 weekly matching vouchers for fresh/frozen/canned fruits & veggies. The Prairie Roots Community Fund has a community garden location next to Madison Elementary School, and work will begin in May on Wednesday evenings and Saturday mornings.

Amanda Lewis - Clay Soil & Water Conservation District
Clay Soil and Water Conservation District & Pheasants Forever are partnering with Legend’s Bar and Grill to bring awareness to the community about Pollinators, Habitats, and Urban Conservation. Join them at Pollinator Pint Night on June 10 from 6-9 p.m.
